I like it! It would be great to get not only Cataphracts, but All Haus fighters and members pics.

Are those puppies stainless or mild? I checked out their site and stainless is only $60 more than mild....

I got the stainless because I'm a lazy SOB.
Plus, I could afford the slightly lighter version.
If you've never fought in Greaves, take note - its a love / hate relationship. Difficult to explain. You'll see what I mean. |

Well...I started out in shovel greaves, so I know what you mean. Although, when I do actually get these, I'll end up strapping up some leather cuisses (right piece of armour?) seperately from my greaves. I plan on getting the SS with the brass centerline put into it.......one day.. hehehe

I am trying to look like this dude- the Bulgar Slayer.
I got rid of the greaves and skirt, and am going to change the shoulders.

Duke Alaric,
As always you are an inspiration.
I love seeing quality kits as it really helps motivate me to press on and make mine better, when I could easily be happy with being "close enough".
My next kit (sometime in the distant future) will be modled after St Joshua:
I love his helmet. |

Holy Diver, that's a sweet picture, Dio.
I am still trying to figure out exactly how the lines in between each row of lamellae was created. I have seen a number of people who string each row together horizontally, and then mount it to a leather backing. The leather backings are then hung similarly to japanese armor.
Does anyone else have any refernce for this?

I was planning on putting together a row, and then folding a strip of leather over the bottom of the row, and then lacing it on as you attach it to the next row (basically an edging). With the long lammelas this would give that look and also 1) add protection to your flesh from the bottom edges of the lamellar rows and 2) protect the cord as there will be less cutting on it by the lamellas.
Not sure ir thats how they did it at all anywhere, but It would make sence as thats how the overall kilbanion os often edged.
Also, check out this: http://www.honorblade.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=553
I'm considing something like this (maby not rivited but laced) for the softer brass lamellae. |
