There have been some inquiries into what the heck is the Order of the Bucellarii.
Order of the Bucellarii – This Honor is bestowed on any warrior in the Duchy, of good standing, who participates in ALL point battles at Pennsic they are eligible to participate in. The Honoree is entitled to wear the “Veteran’s Cloak” and title himself as Bucellarius Lucanai. This is a Duchy only award and is a mark of pride amongst those that have earned it. It is unwritten but expected that this honor that needs to be maintained by those attending the War as these warriors are the examples for Kingdom to follow.
The title Bucellarii, so it is told, comes from the notion that these warriors were so hard core they ate biscuits ”hard tack” in the saddle, rather than stop for meals on the way to battle (all business).
